How to Measure for a Small Bust Bra: A Step-By-Step Guide

As a mother, you want your daughter to feel and be her best self every day. While there are so many things out of your control, you are able to ensure one thing: that she is confident and comfortable in what she wears, and that includes her bras.

When it comes tobras for small busts, it’s important to measure accurately. The better the fit, the more comfortable and confident your daughter will feel. We know that measuring for a small bust and finding the best types of bras for small breasts might seem like a daunting task, but don’t worry. That’s why we have put together this handy step-by-step guide on how to measure for a small bust.

Step One: Find Measuring Tape

Using the right measuring tape is one of the most important steps to measuring your daughter’s bra size accurately. So, what is the right type of measuring tape?

Look for measuring tape that is flexible, soft, and easy to wrap around your daughter’s bust. Avoid using rulers or aluminum measuring tapes, as those can easily irritate your daughter’s skin and give you inaccurate readings. When in doubt, a tailor’s measuring tape is the way to go.

Step Two: Measure the Band Size

The next step to figuring out your daughter’s bra is measuring her band size. This measurement is taken by wrapping the measuring tape around your daughter’s chest, just below her bust. Keep the tape comfortably wrapped around her, not too tight but not too loose.

When it comes to measuring your daughter’s band size, bear in mind that you will need to round up to the nearest even number. For example, if your daughter’s exact measurement is 29.8 inches, you would round up to thirty inches.

Step Three: Measure the Bust Size

Next, you will need to measure your daughter’s bust size. Simply wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your daughter’s bust. Remember, the tape should be comfortably wrapped around her, not too tight or too loose.

Step Four: Calculate Your Daughter’s Cup Size

Once you have both your band and bust measurements, you will want to subtract the band from the bust measurement. For example, you measured a bust size of thirty-two inches and a band size of twenty-nine inches. You would subtract twenty-nine from thirty-two, resulting with three as your daughter’s bust size number.

Once you have determined her bust size number, you will use it to figure out the size of your daughter’s cup. If she has a smaller bust, you can expect her to land somewhere between an AA and a B cup.

Any number below one inch equates to a double A cup, whereas one inch equates to a true A cup, and two inches equates to a B cup. This same logic follows for C, D, and all cups beyond.
